TEDDS® Update Service
TEDDS includes a comprehensive and ever-expanding library of civil and structural engineering calculations for a variety of materials and structural forms.
The TEDDS Update Service allows you to keep up to date with the latest improvements to both the TEDDS software and the TEDDS Engineering Library. TEDDS will notify you when new updates become available and provide you with the option to download and install the updates immediately.
When you run TEDDS the software checks online to see if any updates are available. If an update that you have not already installed is available you will be notified with an appropriate message. Notification will appear in the Status Bar of the main application window or it will appear in the Status Bar of the Library Access System window. The Status Bar is the area at the bottom of the window.
Status Bar
To review a list of the updates that are available simply click on the notification message in the Status Bar. The Software Manager application will then check online and list all the updates that are available.
To install an update check the box next to the item in the list and click the Install button at the bottom of the window. Continue to follow the installation instructions and the update will be installed.
Software Manager
To check for updates manually simply run TEDDS click the Check for Updates command on the TEDDS Help menu.

Software Update January 2010Software Update January 2010GeneralSetup WizardFix: When migrating settings from a previous version of TEDDS the default Calc Set directory $(UserSetDir) was not migrated. TEDDS for WordVariablesFix: Promoted section variables would lose their promoted attribute when the value was modified in a calculation. ToolbarsFix: Aus Star button was missing from format toolbar in Word 2000/2002/2003. Word 2007Fix: When TEDDS for Word 2007 was run for the first time the images on the TEDDS ribbon were not displayed. Fix: If a previous version of TEDDS had been used with Word 2007 the Calculate Selection button on the TEDDS ribbon would not work. Enhancement: Significantly improved the performance of the TEDDS ribbon. FunctionsFix: floor function returned incorrect result for negative values when the value was exactly divisible by the floor value. Enhancement: New SelectFile function which allows a file name to be selected for subsequent use in an open or save file operation. Enhancement: New SetVarAttributes function which allows the attributes of an existing variable to be modified. Enhancement: Updated SaveSectionVarsTextFile and SaveSectionVarsCalcItem to allow variables to be appended to the existing output. Enhancement: Updated functions that accept file paths to support the placeholder $(UserDocDir) which is the default document open/save location. | 8.34 MB |

Software Update October 2009Software Update October 2009TEDDSFix: The output for some calculations did not display symbols (multiplication, square root etc.) correctly. Fix: Engineering Library index defaulted to SI units instead of US units (North America). Fix: On some systems TEDDS crashed when closing if it had originally been opened by double clicking on a TEDDS document. TEDDS for WordFix: If the North American Engineering Library was installed in addition to another regional Engineering Library then showing the index or switching between locales in the Library Access System will cause the Library Access System to crash. Beam AnalysisFix: Under certain circumstances the output span results listed erroneous results in the intermediate results table for max/min moment, shear and deflection. Intermediate results written to document variables may also have been incorrect. Summary results were always correct. Steel Simple Beam Analysis & Design (BS5950)Fix: Changes to loading were not saved to document variables, consequently calculation was unusable. | N/A* |

Engineering Library Update March 2010Engineering Library Update March 2010Storm Water DrainageNew calculation for designing a storm water drainage system comprising multiple pipes of varying diameters and flows and a variety of structures, including entries, inlets and manholes. The Energy Grade Line (EGL) and the Hydraulic Grade Line (HGL) are calculated for the pipeline and the calculation determines if the design conforms to freeboard requirements. Engineering Library Update January 2010Engineering Library Update January 2010Our New Timber Beam Analysis & Design (AS1720.1-1997) CalculationFor the analysis and design of timber, glulam and structural laminated veneer lumber (LVL) beams in accordance with Australian Standard AS1720 - Timber Structures Part 1: Design methods. The calculation allows you to analyse beams of up to 10 spans with up to 20 loads per span, 20 loads per support, 8 different load cases and 20 load combinations. The beam section is checked against applied bending, shear and bearing stresses, further calculations check the beam deflection and axial compression or tension if appropriate. Our New Timber Member Design (AS1720.10-1997) CalculationFor the design of timber, glulam and structural laminated veneer lumber (LVL) members in accordance with Australian Standard AS1720 - Timber Structures Part 1: Design methods. The calculation allows you to design a single section based on defined values for reaction, bending moment in both major and minor axis, shear force and compression or tension. Minor UpdatesIncludes minor enhancements and adjustments. | N/A* |

Engineering Library Update December 2009Engineering Library Update December 2009Cut and FillNew calculation which calculates the cut and fill areas for any number of existing and proposed cross sections and then caculates the resulting volume of soil. The coordinates for the existing and proposed cross sections can be entered manually or they can be imported from a text file. The proposed cross sections can also be generated automatically by using one of several pre-defined templates. Once you have defined all of your cross sections a quantity distribution table is calculated to determine the total cut or fill volume.
