Security Patch

Important Information

Please note: you must use a Windows logon account that has administrator privileges to install this update.

Please note: after you have installed this update it is strongly recommended that you run the Software Manager application again from your normal Windows logon account, this will ensure that the latest version of the Update Service Scheduler is correctly initialized.

Distributed Deployments

Please contact your local technical support team for details of how to apply this patch via Distrbuted Deployment.

CSC Update Service 6.0 Security Patch

This patches the Macrovision FLEXNet Connect service that is used by the CSC Update Service. It fixes a "Safe for Scripting" issue which potentially causes vulnerabilities in the FLEXnet Connect client, including a possible buffer overflow.

CSC Update Service 6.1 Security Patch

This update patches the Macrovision FLEXNet Connect service that is used by the CSC Update Service. It fixes a "Safe for Scripting" issue which potentially causes vulnerabilities in the FLEXnet Connect client, including a possible buffer overflow.

CSC Update Service 11.0

New version of the CSC Update Service that fixes the following issues:

Fix: If the Update Service displays a notification window for a software update the Read more... link opened the release notes in a window that could not be resized.

Fix: If the Update Service displays a notification window then Internet Explorer may have prompted the user with the following message "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Do you want to allow this interaction?".

Service Pack 4

Vista Compliance & Other Updates

Fastrak Building Designer

Vista

This service pack makes Fastrak Vista compliant.

Moment Connections

Triangular Distribution

In moment connections, there are conditions where the potential bolt row forces are constrained by a 'triangular limit', measured from the centre of the compression flange. Generally, in the triangulation, the maximum value is taken as the potential resistance of the row immediately inside of the beam flange. This version includes a revised triangulation for a special condition of an extended end plate. Provided the extended end plate is stiffened, in the triangulation, the maximum value is taken as the potential resistance of the remote bolt row, beyond the flange. If the extended end plate is unstiffened, in the triangulation, the maximum value remains as the potential resistance of the row immediately inside of the beam flange.

Fillet Welds in Tension

There has been a recent amendment to BS5950:2000. If a weld is in tension alone, it can be considered as full strength if the sum of the root thicknesses each side, is at least equal to the thickness of the material in tension. This has been implemented but restricted to:

  • Web weld placed in beam or haunch zones, adjacent bolt rows in tension.
  • End plate weld; the top flange of a beam in positive bending, or the bottom flange of an unhaunched beam in negative bending.

However, the end plate width needs to exceed the beam flange width to allow a full profile weld. Also, the angle of intersection between the connected elements should be not less than 60° or more than 120°.

3D+ Export

Camber values for composite beams were being exported as the calculated bend radius instead of a simple distance.

Service Pack 3

Wind Load Decomposition, 3D+ Westok & Fastrak Connections

Major Updates

Wind Load Decomposition

Wind loads were not being decomposed on to shear walls from the roof.

3D+ Export

When exporting the reduced model the program was using imperial units instead of metric units for user defined sections.

WESTOK openings were not being displayed correctly within 3D+ after export.

Fastrak Connections

Enhancement has been made to the text size scaling in the 2D views and reports. This applies to all connections.

Fastrak Connections - Moment Connection

The bolt row layout was not being updated when beam slope angle was edited. This applies to Beam 2 Beam and Beam 2 Column moment connections.

Beam 2 Beam connection omitted the table of Design Combination forces from the report.

For the situation when an unstiffened extended end plate is defined, the program was returning the incorrect triangular limit. The program was applying the limit from the first row above the flange when it should be the first row inside the flange.

Minor Updates

Includes other minor enhancements and adjustments.

Service Pack 2

Minor Updates

Minor Updates

This service pack fixes the following issues :-

General Beams

Design Status shown as Not Checked when no design criteria set for Deflection due to total loads i.e. When both Apply Relative and Apply Absolute are set as unchecked, the design status of the General Beam is always Not Checked.

3D+ Import

Westok Beams defined with Corus Advance sections are rejected as invalid members.

Grid Denominators

Any changes made to the referencing system for beams, columns etc are not being saved with the model. On opening the model, the referencing system always defaults back to the default reference settings.

Westok Import & Curved Beam Analysis Model Issue

Westok Import & Curved Beam Analysis Model Issue

Major Updates

Building Designer Product Bulletin - No.6 June 2007

Updated to fix this issue which can cause an incorrect analysis model to be generated when both curved beams and slaved braces exist with the same model.

Westok Import

Updated to fix an issue with the import of Westok beams in to Building and Floor Designer due to a conflict with the Undo command.

Minor Updates

Includes other minor enhancements and adjustments.
